Justin Maldonado was born and raised in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the son of a public school teacher and a transit worker. He grew up watching his parents work double shifts to make ends meet, and he learned early on the value of hard work, community, and fighting for what's right.
After graduating from Kaplan University and Post University Justin spent a decade as a civil rights activist, defending working families facing eviction, discrimination, and unfair labor practices. He didn't go into politics— he went into the helping people to stand up for people who couldn't stand up for themselves.

Now, Justin is running for the United States Senate because New Jersey deserves a senator who knows what it's like to struggle, who has fought in the trenches for working people, and who will never forget where he came from. This campaign isn't about him — it's about every family in Newark, Camden, Trenton, and every small town in between that deserves a voice in Washington.
